Exchange Center: Week 4

What a debut! 37 points in 40 minutes of play. A question burns…why was this guy initially behind Marcus Williams, DeMarcus Nelson and C.J. Watson? If you play in an active league, Anthony Morrow has already been grabbed by one of your rival owners. Anyone who can drop more than 30+ in their first game deserves a chance.
Relatively unknown, the DeLorean had to be fired up to go back into time where a picture of Morrow during his George Tech days was found. Surely, more photos of him in his professional digs will be available soon.

I apologize, Luc Richard. I could not find a decent photo of you in your NBA uniform. But you, Mr. Mbah a Moute, have been kicking enough boute lately to be one of the hottest pick-ups in leagues. Props for that.
Here are recent add/drop transactions in two leagues I participate in (the 12- and 14-team leagues), and one my friends play in (a 10-team league). Hopefully by looking at different sized leagues, there are some moves you can look at regardless of what size league you play in.

Dropping Dimes is trying out a new feature. Fantasy 30 intends to rank all of the NBA teams in terms of fantasy power. A list like this tends to lead to a lot of disagreement and discussion, but the hope is that these rankings will be fluid and updated as the year goes on. Thanks to Ron Chow for the assist. In addition to publishing updates on the Fantasy 30, once in a while we hope to produce sister articles that focus on a specific team and its roster.
#1: Los Angeles Lakers: Kobe Bryant ranks as a top four fantasy player this year. The Lakers employ two fantasy-worthy starters for center in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Lamar Odom has played well coming off the bench. Jordan Farmar has sleeper point guard potential, and the team also employs three-point threats like Derek Fisher and Vlad Radmanovic. All of this adds up to the Lakers being top dog early in the year.

Ron Chow and I won our first-round match-up in the Dropping Dimes League. With the victory, we take the early lead in the standings.
The Allen Iverson trade to Detroit seems to be official now. Big news, to say the least.
Add/Drops tend to be plentiful in the first couple of weeks in the season. Here are some moves that I have seen using one 10-team, one 12-team and one 14-team league. The 14-team league is our experts league.

I know, I know, I probably need to come up with a better title than “Exchange Center.” This feature will aim to comment on the add/drop transactions in leagues that I play in, especially those in our experts’ league. There should be more stuff on our draft and league very soon.

Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time
With the fantasy playoffs soon approaching, it’s getting to the point where games-remaining is a big determinant in whom you’ll be adding-dropping over the next week. Leagues that lock rosters after a certain point will definitely want to pay attention to this. Those that allow streaming – while I don’t condone – will want to pay close attention to this as well. With that said, here are the players that should be on your current radars, given league settings.

The shoot-out in the wild Western Conference has been great to follow, has it not? The top nine teams are separated by only 6.5 games. Every day the standings shift. Right now Phoenix sits in sixth while Dallas ranks seventh! This bodes well for fantasy owners as the best teams in the West should all be playing meaningful games down the stretch. Here’s a rundown of each team’s fantasy playoff schedule.

While owners are frantically looking for the players who will go from unknown to fantasy playoff superstars in the matter of weeks (Walter Herrmann circa 2007), we have all been confronted with a bevy of superstar injuries. While the Gerald Wallace concussion hurts, no injury will likely impact the final weeks more than Houston’s Yao Ming calling it a season. The rotations have ironed themselves out, and we now know who needs to be added where. Hopefully your opponents have been asleep at the wheel as we have a ton of fantasy assets out there on the wire as we speak.

Beyond the Arc: Week 19

We’re almost at the finish line and it’s time to start readying the troops for the final countdown.
How’s that for some drama? It’s time for any last minute trades, so assess your rosters, make that deal and keep your eyes peeled to the waiver wire. This is where championships are won, especially in H2H, where a good chunk of the best players in the league will sit out the fantasy finals. The good news is that both conferences are set up for some tight races with a lot of jostling around with seeding, so hopefully this year more than ever we see very few guys sitting out their last few team games. We can only hope so.

It is admittedly getting tough to find some weekly additions from the waiver wire at this time of year. While we have the trade deadline looming, most of the transactions from here out will be based on either injuries or scheduling. Four-game weeks are going to become crucial as we head into the playoffs. Those that are behind on games in roto leagues will need to start making well-thought moves to get the game totals as close to 72 to as possible before it is all said and done. With that said, here are this week’s recommendations.
